‘I Said a Prayer for You Today’

My-Serenity-Above-the-Clouds-Main-1

There was an elderly gentleman who, for many years, sat in the lobby of the hospital where my wife worked.

Every day, weather permitting, he made the trek from the nearby home for the elderly where he lived to the hospital. Finding a strategic chair in the lobby so he could see all the passers-by, he would spent an hour or so.

He spoke the same message to everyone. His voice clear. His always smiling face looked for ours. He gave each of us, for perhaps just a moment, a sense of warmth, or peace, or love. or well-being. And he sought nothing in return.

I said a prayer for you today.’
